Abstract digital particles wave

Have you saved the date 1 October? That’s the day when Mistra InfraMaint’s annual meeting will be held. This year, the theme will be digitalisation.

Using the possibilities of new technology will be important to reach Mistra InfraMaint’s programme goals. Research in several projects is about how to use relevant data and smart applications to make infrastructure maintenance more efficient and sustainable. Digital technologies and data flows will be used for improved decision-making and optimisation of maintenance.

“But to succeed and produce good decision models, we can not only focus on the applications. Database standards, IT strategies and collaboration between the project actors and industry actors are other success factors”, says David Nilsson in the programme management for Mistra InfraMaint.

Many aspects

Simply put: How smart an application is it is also required that the product reaches the market. It must be able to use data from the municipal databases and be compatible with solutions offered by the large IT providers.

Artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of things and Big Data also raise issues of security, transparency and reliability that must be addressed. Procurement, operation and support of systems must make further development is possible.

Mistra InfraMaint will address some of the issues by having digitalisation as the main theme for the annual meeting.

Save the date

“These are big questions that we need to start with early, in cooperation with our partners and preferably also other researchers”, says David Nilsson.

So, if you haven’t already entered the fall meeting on October 1 in your calendar – do it. This year, the meeting will be held at KTH campus in Stockholm.
