1.2a Biofilm growth and biostability in the drinking water network
Challenge
Biofilm growth in the drinking water network.
In the project, a postdoc in 2022 has worked on studying biofilm growth and biostability in drinking water pipes in the distribution network, and how dependent they are on the variation in water pressure, TOC content in the water and chlorine excess.
The project is divided into three almost equal parts:
- Literature study and planning of field study and modeling.
- Field study and with water sampling and online monitoring in the distribution network.
- Hydraulic modeling of water flows and pressures in the distribution network.
