2.3 Governance and organisation of infrastructure asset management in a life cycle analysis perspective
Challenge
Regardless of growing or declining population, many municipalities face major challenges in maintaining outdated infrastructure networks and planning for new networks. Many municipalities have a significant maintenance debt in relation to water and sewage (WS) as well as roads and there is a great need for reinvestments.
The purpose of the following sub-projects is to analyze municipalities’ capacity or lack of capacity in relation to infrastructure maintenance and why and in what way municipalities organize, control and work with infrastructure maintenance.
Expected results
Tentative results of the case studies obtained through interviews and document wrapping are expected to be completed in the autumn of 2020.
Supplementary material for the subproject will be collected by the industrial doctoral students in the program (projects 1.2, 1.5-1.8).
The results of the subproject will be presented in a scientific article in an international journal and a popular science report in Swedish.
