3D Legacy after Mistra InfraMaint

Background
Since 2018, the focus of Mistra InfraMaint has been to establish asset management as a field of research. As we now enter the program’s second and final phase, efforts are beginning to ensure that the results and knowledge generated continue to live on even after the program has concluded.

Objective
An initial feasibility study outlines several concrete steps that Mistra InfraMaint can take to help ensure that asset management remains a strong and relevant field for research and development, prioritized by municipal organizations.

The long-term goals are to create a structure that enables:

  • Integration of the results from Mistra InfraMaint into future research and education, for example by incorporating asset management into university curricula. A dialogue with Chalmers University has already been initiated for this purpose.

  • Establishing a natural connection between RISE’s newly formed asset management division and other research institutes and universities.

  • Exploring various strategies to further embed the program’s legacy in practice, such as forming an industry association, developing a business plan for continued operations within RISE/VTI, contributing to the creation of methods and tools for education, or establishing additional research clusters similar to DRICKS.
